April 9, 2020

Dear Families,

I hope you and your loved ones are well. It was wonderful to chat with many of you during our scheduled student package pick up. Rogers certainly is eerily quiet without all the laughter and activity that generally goes on here. I miss having lunch with the children, supporting student-led clubs, daily musical practices, attending sporting events, working along side children as they try to navigate through challenging social situations or share an exciting event that has happened in their lives with me. I am soooooo looking forward to returning to our regular school life with all families, students and staff joining together to continue to create wonderful learning opportunities, school-wide events and memories!

I have included below mental health/social wellness information that you may access through these uncertain times.

COVID-19 Series Elementary Navigating Worry and Fear- April 6,2020

Take care and stay healthy. Together we can make a difference.

Student E-Reading Book Club

Over the past week, the busy elves at Victoria Literacy Connection (VLC) have been working behind the scenes to create a brand new program for these COVID-19 times. Ten VLC child literacy volunteers will facilitate closed online reading groups of up to 3 children each. The sessions will be held three days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) from April 10th to May 1st, 2020. Each session is up to one hour. Children are encouraged to keep to their respective groups and to attend all sessions.

This program is open to learners attending schools in all three school districts in and around Greater Victoria, namely: SD61, SD62 and SD63. Learners can use desktops, laptops, tablet or phones to follow instruction.
